Surface Wettability Improvement of Heat Curing Acrylic Resin by Direct Current (DC) Non-thermal Atmospheric Pressure Plasma
نویسندگان
چکیده
Ar/O2/N2 cold plasma was employed to treat the surface of heat-curing acrylic resin, and the wettability changes were evaluated. After plasma treatment, the contact angle reduced significantly. XPS results indicated that the C/O ratio reduced and a new hydrophilic group C–OH was generated on the surface of acrylic resin.

Effect of plasma treatment on adhesion of self-curing repair resin to acrylic denture base.
Plasma irradiation on surface of heat-cured acrylic resin prior to processing self-curing acrylic resin is likely to effectively increase the adhesive strength between these materials for short-term period. However, long-term reliability of adhesive strength between these materials has not been clarified yet. In the present study, these materials were stored in water for a long period (100 days...
متن کاملTime-related wettability characteristic of acrylic resin surfaces treated by glow discharge.
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Adhesion and cohesion have important roles in denture retention, and attempts have been made to improve the wettability of the acrylic resin material by surface treatments. PURPOSE This study examined the initial and subsequent wettability of an acrylic resin denture base material treated under air or argon plasma atmosphere before and after exposure to air or distilled w...

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Poor wettability of denture relining materials may lead to retention problems and patient discomfort. PURPOSE Purpose of this study is to compare and evaluate wettability of nine denture relining materials using contact angle measurements under air and water storage over time. MATERIAL AND METHODS Nine denture relining materials were investigated in this study. Two heat...
متن کاملEffect of Dentin Surface Treatment Using a Non-Thermal Argon Plasma Brush on the Bond Strength of a Self-Adhesive Resin Composite
Background and Aim: Improving the bond strength at the resin-dentin interface is an important challenge in adhesive dentistry. This study examined the effect of low-power, non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma (NT-APP) treatments on the adhesion of a self-adhesive resin composite to dentin. Materials and Methods: In this experimental in-vitro study, buccal enamel of extracted bovine incisors...
متن کاملEffect of non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma on MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells
Cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) has received great attention due to its noteworthy ability, and has also been widely studied over few decades in physics, biology and medicine. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the cold atmospheric pressure plasma effects on the proliferation of breast cancer cells. MDA-MB-231 was used for this experiment. MDA-MB-231 cells were cultured in 24-well plate and...
